anthology that i co-organized with 3 artists of korean descent, monge han and paty baik, is a publication with 3 experimental comics by each author, whose narrative is inspired by the symbology of sam taegeuk, very present in traditional korean culture. the publication was one of the finalists for the 2019 dente award, in the comics category.
삼태극 sam taegeuk is a tricolor variant of 태극 taegeuk, the same symbol as the national flag of south korea (called 태극기 taegeukgi). it is intrinsically linked to korean culture, shamanism and taoism, expressing the harmony and cycle of complementarity between its three elements: heaven (blue), influences earth (red), which influences humanity (yellow), which influences the sky and so on...
when i started making comics, i thought a lot about the narrative of cinema as references to weave my own. as a tribute, my comic “humanity” (yellow), was a collage of movie scenes and their sceneries. i've compiled and portrayed fragments of barking dogs never bite (2000, bong joon-ho), rebels of the neon god (1992, tsai ming-liang) and the terrorizers (1986), yi yi (2000) and taipei story (1985) by edward yang.

o 삼태극 sam taegeuk é uma variante tricolor do 태극 taegeuk, o mesmo símbolo da bandeira nacional da coreia do sul (chamada 태극기 taegeukgi). ele está intrinsecamente ligado à cultura coreana, ao xamanismo e taoísmo, exprimindo a harmonia e o ciclo da complementariedade entre seus três elementos: o céu (azul), influencia a terra (vermelho), que influencia a humanidade (amarelo), que assim influencia o céu...
